I had such a great time on this trip! Our guides Jess and Jacob were fantastic. They were so organized, knowledgeable, personable, and outstanding cooks! At first I thought having them cook most of our meals might make the trip less special, but the opposite was true. I only wish I could have them at home to cook for me! The one exception where I was impressed by the restaurant was the amazing buffet we had at the Hermitage Hotel. It was the best buffet I've ever been to and I've traveled a lot! An huge number of choices and everything was absolutely top quality!
I loved all of the places we went and the hikes were all fantastic. We were lucky to have great weather up until our last full day where there was light rain throughout our hike. At the turn around point in that hike, Jess and Jacob walked out with fresh baked cookies and hot cocoa! How did they manage to accomplish that?! So perfect. It totally made up for the rain.
We did have a sick person in our group but Jess and Jacob accommodated the concerns of the group and alleviated any fears that we had. There did seem to be a lot of COVID around ( a leader of a 10 person bicycle group said he had lost 4 of his group to COVID). But I feel our guides protected us perfectly.

Our local guides, Gustavo, Andrea, Andy and others were outstanding and made this trip special. Their level of customer service, knowledge of the local history, culture, flora, fauna and geology was amazing. They are great ambassadors for Chile annd Argentina.

I had an amazing trip and feel that Active Adventures did a great job. I was properly prepared because of the info they sent and conversations we had. I attribute most of the trip's success to, besides the amazing destination, the extremely qualified trip guide, Gustavo-not sure if that was actually his title. He stayed with us the whole time, and took care of logistics. He has a passion for people, his work, and the adventure. He knew exactly how to handle all the interesting situations that came up. As I was on this trip alone, he almost seemed like my personal buddy, responding to my "ahs" and "wows", like it was his first time seeing these views as well. He took the time to work out an issue with my return flight, as well as one evening walking hot soup back to the hotel for a sick trip member. He is someone who is very good at what he does.

Overall a great trip. The guides performed well. As my wife said, we were spoiled from the last trip with Ryan and Emma, but they were but they were more than adequate.
Couple of observations:
- Lots of driving on the trip, probably due to the nature of where we needed to go on the North Island.
- Challenging hikes, which we welcomed.
- The last hike involved a steep climb and descent, with a walk along a very rocky beach. It would have been helpful if guides suggested we bring hiking shoes and water shoes to change shoes before the beach.
- The education regarding the indigenous people and forest hike were a great addition to the trip

We LOVED the trip: the itinerary, the scenery and especially our guides Liana Smith and Kelly Clifford! It surpassed our expectations and gave us an excellent feel for the South Island of NZ.
